Prakash said “don’t worry darling, we just started, your favorite one is still in the microwave waiting for you”. I decided to not react to his use of the darling word and behaved normally.
I went to my bedroom and freshened up. Then I joined the rest and saw Prakash behaving very normal and kids also. I was curious to know what explanation he had given them but did not find a chance.
I got up and went to the kitchen to get my pizza. I found it cold so began warming it in the microwave. My elder son joined, I asked “what brings you here dear? Party is outside”.
He simply hugged me tightly without saying a word. I got worried because he has never done this before. I raised his face to find him teary eyed. I worriedly asked “what happened Aayush”?
He replied between sobs “mom I know why you and dad will be living separately”. My curiosity was peaking now, I asked “what did daddy tell you Aayush”?
Aayush said “dad said that you and him are having compatibility problems. But I found the torn papers in the dustbin and figured out the real reason”.
I felt overwhelmed with his maturity to handle an issue of this magnitude. I asked “does Piyush know about this”? He replied “no mom, I have not told him anything. He believes what dad said”.
I hugged him tightly and said “don’t worry dear, I am right here with you no matter what happens. I love you both and will always do till my last breath”.
He replied “yes I already know mom and I love you even more now. But are you going to be okay despite knowing all this”? I said “don’t worry about me dear, I will manage. You just behave like you don’t know anything and don’t tell Piyush also”.
We both went back to the living room with the warmed up pizza behaving normally. I was happy that Aayush had handled everything so maturely despite being so young.
We all had a gala family pizza dinner before retiring to our rooms. I was happy that everything got sorted without much fuss from Prakash. Around 11pm Prakash knocked on my door and came in.
