He said “madam, he will have his own staff quarters to stay. His work will not be all day long so he does not have to be here all the while. So we can still find our private moments together”. I said “well Anthony, I am still not comfortable with your idea because he will have free access to this house. What if he walks in on us”?
Anthony confidently said “you leave that to me madam. I will ensure he does not catch us”. While what he said sounded too good to be true, I reluctantly agreed. Money was not a problem and here I was getting someone for full time for the same amount I was paying my part time maid.
So it was decided that this guy would join a month later because I wanted to be considerate to my present maid by giving her a month’s notice so she could find alternative jobs. So one month later this guy arrived at my door.
I was surprised to see him. He was the same guy whom I saw in the kitchen that day when I went looking for Amar. He introduced himself as Vinod. He was a pretty lean and tall guy beaming with excitement. He asked “do you remember me madam”?
I answered “yes, I remember you, I saw you in the resort kitchen that morning and many times carrying my husband back to the room”. He humbly said “thank you so much for giving me this job madam. Now my siblings back home can look forward to good education and a better life”.
Vinod fell at my feet while saying this. I jumped back at his gesture telling him “its okay, you don’t have to do all this”. Anthony took him to show him his quarters while I went to my present maid. She still had three days to go before leaving.
I had planned this on purpose to ensure Vinod understands everything before she quits. Half hour later Vinod joined us. I said “why don’t you go and rest today after your long journey”. He replied “madam, I am fine, I want to start now”.
